Update: Government reshuffle - six ministers changed, media speculates on possible succesors
Local media has already put forward the names of the candidates who could replace dismissed ministers. Sorin Mindrutescu, the head of Oracle Romania, is the successor for the Communication Ministry, according to Romania media. Gheorghe Ialomitianu could take Vladescu's seat at the Finance Ministry, according to newspaper Gandul, while Nelu Ioan Botis could replace the Labor Minister. Ion Ariton's name was put forward by the media for the helm of the Economy Ministry, while Anca Boagiu could take the Transport Ministry portfolio.
Valeriu Tabara, head of the agriculture commission within the Chamber of Deputies, was proposed as the new Agriculture Minister. Tabara accepted but his naming on the new position is pending on discussions within the ruling party PDL.
The reshuffle proposal from the Prime Minister needs to go to the Romanian president Traian Basescu, who needs to approve it.
Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu said the political decision to sack him was an error in his opinion, as he had started several projects with the Finance Ministry, among which The deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the taxation changes. Up to 12 months were required to see the effects of our projects, according to Vladescu.
