British companies Spirit Circuits and Portsmouth Aviation will open two factories in Craiova, within the city’s High-Tech Industry Park.

Spirit Circuits will produce integrated circuits and Portsmouth Aviation will manufacture water filters.

The mayor of Craiova Lia Olguta Vasilescu made this announcement during her visit to the UK, reports local Economica.net. The County Council owns two business platforms, one of them being the industrial park High-Tech Industry Park.

Spirit Circuits was founded 25 years ago by Steve Driver, the company's general manager and major shareholder.

Romania wasn't the company's first choice, Driver told local Gds.ro. It also analyzed the markets in Macedonia, Turkey and Bulgaria. Steve Drivers expects the new plant to start production in some 18 months.
