Tax evasion to go down by 5% in Romania

04 February 2015

Tax evasion will likely decrease by 5% in 2015, said Finance Minister Darius Valcov.

The fiscal receipts lottery, more electronic cash registers and an improvement in the Tax Agency’s (ANAF) activity will contribute to the decrease.

The tax evasion for VAT has a 44% rate, which means EUR 8.8 billion losses. Reducing the tax evasion by 5% would mean, in this case, an additional income of about EUR 1 billion only from the VAT, Valcov said, cited by local Agerpres.

“We’ve asked ANAF for additional revenues of EUR 1.8 billion for this year,” he added.

In January, the Finance Ministry recorded extra revenues of EUR 113.5 million.
