Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has defeated Australian Samantha Stosur 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 to win the WTA Tournament of Champions title in Sofia, this being her sixth trophy in 2013.

The Romanian tennis star, who won USD 270,000 for the title, now ranks 11th in the WTA rankings, up from 14th place.

Serhan Baykal, Board Member of Garanti Koza, presented the award to the Romanian champion.

“It was an incredible week for me. I want to thank the fans, who came to support me and helped me win the title,” said Simona Halep.

The two tennis players previously met in Moscow, where Halep won her fifth title of the year beating Stosur 7-6, 6-2 in the final of the Kremlin Cup.
