Romania's railway freight company CFR Marfa lays off 2,300

Romania’s state owned railway freight company CFR Marfa so far laid off 2,296 employees, most of them from the Banat – Oltenia branch, reports local Mediafax. The company plans to lay off a total of 2,500 this year.

So far, layoffs took place at several of the company’s branches, namely Muntenia – Dobrogea (570 employees), Banat – Oltenia (622 employees), Transylvania (540 employees), Moldova (291 employees), the Center for Wagons Maintenance and Repairs (207 employees) and CFR Marfa central structure (66 employees).

According to CFR Marfa representatives, the dismissal process will end with the 2,500. The company currently has 6,561 employees.
