Romania's railway company awards EUR 580 mln contract

Romania's state-owned railway company CFR has awarded a contract of EUR 580 million, without VAT, for the rehabilitation of a railway section between Gurasada - Simeria in Hunedoara county to a consortium made up of FCC (Spain), Astaldi (Italy), and Convensa (Spain), reports local Economica.net.

The 40.8-kilometer railway section is part of the Pan-European Corridor IV for trains with a top speed of 160 km per hour.

The execution period amounts to 36 months. The attribution criterion was the lowest price.

FCC previously teamed up with Astaldi for building the Raul Doamnei-Hasdeu sector of Bucharest’s new subway line.
