Romanians among the last in EU for online banking use
Only 7% of Romanians between 16 and 74 used internet banking services in 2017, seven times fewer than the EU average (51%). Only Bulgaria had fewer internet banking users last year, namely 5% of its adult population.
Around half (51%) of adult Europeans use internet banking. This share has doubled since 2007, when it stood at 25%.
Among EU countries, internet banking is most common in Denmark, where 90% of people aged 16 to 74 said they were using it, and the Netherlands (89%), followed by the other Nordic countries - Finland (87%), and Sweden (86%). Almost 80% of Estonians also use internet banking.
