Romanian sugar factories not allowed to export outside EU
Romanian sugar factories are not allowed to export outside the European Union, because an official from the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) has made a mistake.
The person failed to send EU authorities the factories' application to export outside the EU, said Ioan Armean, the president of the Romanian Association of Sugar Producers (ARPZS), cited by local Capital.ro.
Romanian producers will be left with large stocks, problems in storing sugar, while factories will be in financial dire straits, Armean added.
"We are now in a borderline situation, as the factories from Oradea and Ludus, as well as others, will not produce beet and sugar this year, because they don't have where to sell this sugar," Armean concluded.
