Romanian online retailer eMag generated EUR 4 million in sales on the Black Friday morning, when it discounted some prices by up to 60 percent. The campaign, that started at 5,00 hours in the morning, generated 34,000 sales until 10,00 hours, of which 28,000 from the Black Friday offer, the company has announced.

The retailer's website had 400,000 unique visitors – around 2 percent of Romania's population. The high number of visitors blocked its servers- displaying the message in the picture above, that writes 'Nu e vine mea, sunteti prea multi' (translated as It's not my fault, there are too many of you).

“The impact was beyond any expectation if we compare it to any other even in the retail history in Romania. We are trying to increase the quantities from our suppliers for special promotions,” said radu Apostolescu of eMAG.
