Romanian lender Carpatica wants to resume possible Nextebank merger talks

27 March 2015

Local lender Banca Comerciala Carpatica (BCC) wants to resume talks with representatives of local bank Nextebank to determine conditions for a potential merger.

The bank’s management has asked shareholders to resume talks with Nextebank, after in December last year they declined the merger offer.

In November, Nextebank had submitted an offer for merger by absorption with BCC, but the shareholders refused it.

BCC shareholders will also discuss the possibility to reduce the share capital by EUR 46.3 million, from EUR 71 million to EUR 24.8 million, by canceling 2.04 billion shares. It needs to cover the bank’s cumulated losses at the end of last year.
