Romanian Constitutional Court: Cyber security law is unconstitutional

22 January 2015

Romania’s Constitutional Court ruled on Wednesday, January 21, that the law on cyber security is not constitutional, reports local Digi24.

The court admitted the notification made by politicians from the National Liberal Party PNL who complained that the new law limits the right to private digital life.

Via this law, several state institutions would have gained access to data stored by Internet and phone service providers, without permission from a judge.

The Romanian Intelligence Service SRI claims that the law is necessary due to the increasing number of cyber threats.
