Romanian company Romcarton borrows EUR 23 mln from BCR to build new factory

Local company Romcarton, which produces corrugated cardboard packaging, contracted a loan of EUR 23.4 million from the largest local lender BCR to build a new factory near Bucharest, in Popesti-Leordeni.

The new factory will cover an area of 3.4 hectares. The construction will be completed by the end of this year, following a total investment of EUR 27.5 million.

Romcarton is one of the biggest manufacturers of corrugated cardboard packaging in Romania and has clients mainly in the food and consumer goods industry. It had a turnover of EUR 32 million and 288 employees in 2015, according to data from the Finance Ministry.

The company is owned by the French group Rossmann, which also controls the Ambro Suceava factory in Romania. Rossmann operates 25 factories at global level, 22 of which are in Europe and 3 are in Africa.
