Romanian companies want EUR 1.7 bln EU funds for research

07 September 2015

Romanian companies want to get EUR 1.7 billion worth of EU funds for research, development and innovation for 511 investment projects.

Romania’s Ministry of European Funds has closed the first calls for projects for the “Research, development and innovation supporting economic competitiveness and the development of businesses” axis of the 2014-2020 Competitiveness Operational Programme (COP). It received a total of 511 projects that requested non-reimbursable funds worth EUR 1.7 billion, the ministry announced.

The high number of submitted projects and the amount of financing requests shows that Romania can reach a 100% absorption rate for the Competitiveness Operational Programme by the end of the 2014-2020 programming period, said EU Funds Minister Marius Nica.
