Romanian Central Bank keeps key interest rate at 6.25%
The BNR, whose administration council met on Wednesday, decided to firmly handle liquidities in the banking system, which is a stronger message than after the previous meeting, when BNR was talking about an adequate management of liquidities.
This is the first time this year when BNR hasn't slashed the key interest rate. It has done so in its four previous monetary policy meetings this year, cutting the rate from 8 to 6.25 percent, but had kept the minimum mandatory rates unchanged.
