Romania was one of the only three countries where French retailer Carrefour organically upped its sales in the first nine months of the year. Its sales in Romania, Belgium and France were up, while on a global level, Carrefour saw sales down 1.2%, to some EUR 61.3 billion.

Carrefour owns 164 stores in Romania, 28 of which are hypermarkets, 82 supermarkets, 53 neighborhood stores, and an online store. It posted EUR 1 billion in sales in Romania in 2013.
