Romania needs to repay EUR 128 mln debt to EU, World Bank

Romania still needs to pay this year EUR 128.1 million to the European Union and the World Bank, from the stand-by loan made in 2009.

Since the beginning of the year, Romania has repaid over EUR 1.7 billion to the International Monetary Fund, the EU and the World Bank, according to the Finance Ministry, reports local Agerpres.

On January 1, it paid over EUR 1.546 billion to the EU. On February 27, Romania reimbursed EUR 162 million to the IMF, and on March 1, it paid EUR 3.2 million to the World Bank.

In 2009, Romania initiated a 24-month stand-by loan with the IMF of EUR 12.95 billion. It was part of a EUR 19.95 billion support package agreed with the IMF, EU and World Bank.
