Romania has fastest economic growth in the EU in the third quarter, compared to the second quarter

Romania’s 1.9% economic growth in the third quarter of 2014, compared to the previous quarter, was the highest in the European Union (EU), according to data released by the European Statistics Institute – Eurostat.

Romania’s GDP grew at twice the pace of Poland’s GDP. Poland had the second highest economic growth, quarter-on-quarter, of 0.9%.

However, Poland’s GDP growth in the third quarter compared to the same quarter of 2013, was the highest in the EU, at 3.4%. Romania came second, with 3.3% growth year-on-year, followed by Hungary, with a 3.1% growth rate.

The average growth rate for EU’s 28 member states in the third quarter, compared to the second quarter, was 0.3%, while compared to the third quarter of 2013 it was 1.3%.
