Rasnov citadel reopened for tourists after renovation works
The equestrian festival will take place at Rasnov between August 13 and 15, while the Historic Film festival will be on between August 6 and 15 in the city.
The Rasnov citadel is managed by the local authorities, after being concessioned for seven years to a third party until 2007.
Rasnov is one of the best preserved peasant citadels in Transylvania. It was built in the 13th century by the inhabitants in Rasnov to protect themselves against the Turks and Tatars who invaded the country.
The citadel is located 15 kilometers from Brasov and 15 kilometers from Bran. It stands on a big hill, so the view from the top is worth while. In the Rasnov locality itself you can see old Saxon houses, as well as other sights, such as the Old Evanghelic Church, the Old Orthodox Church and Rasnoavei Gorges.
