PwC forecasts more medals for Romania at Olympics than Goldman Sachs
The PwC estimate is more optimistic than a recent one from Goldman Sachs, which predicted nine medals for the country at the London Olympics. In that forecast, also based on economic and political factors, similarly to PwC's, Romania's 104-athletes were expected to return home with only three gold medals, one less than in Beijing four years ago.
The recent news that Romanian gymnast Larisa Iordache is injured, and her chances of competing in all the competitions where she was a favorite for the gold medal are slim, makes the lower medal crop forecast more plausible. Even is officially injured, she had a good performance at the training session on Thursday evening on beam and parallel bars.
The summer Olympics in London are set to start on July 27 and end on August 12.
