Project: Hypermarkets in Romania to set up traditional product aisles
Hypermarkets in Romania should organize special areas where traditional food producers can display their products, according to a draft plan submitted by Social Democrat Party deputies.
If they don’t set up these areas, they will receive fines of RON 2,500- 5,000 (EUR 565-1,131), reports local Mediafax. All retail units covering more than 2,500 sqm are considered hypermarkets, according to the draft.
Traditional products should be made exclusively of local raw materials, based on a traditional recipe and processed traditionally.
The deputies consider that local producers have too few opportunities to display their products.
