Prognosis Commission: Romania's economic growth to reach 5.6% this year

Romania’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth will reach 5.6% this year, according to the National Prognosis Commission’s latest estimate on the country’s economic growth. The previous report estimated a 5.2% increase for this year.

The National Prognosis Commission (CNP) has kept its estimates unchanged for the next years. The GDP will grow by 5.5% next year, 5.7% in 2019 and 2020 and 5% in 2021, according to CNP.

Romania’s GDP will reach RON 837.1 billion (EUR 182 billion) this year, according to CNP’s latest estimate. The GDP is expected to grow to RON 901.7 billion (EUR 196.1 billion) next year and RON 970.6 billion (EUR 211 billion) in 2019.

Romania recorded the highest annual economic growth in the European Union in the second quarter of this year, namely 5.7%, according to a report the EU’s statistical office Eurostat published in August.
