Romania absorbed between 2007 and 2013 about EUR 7.5 billion in European funds for agriculture, said Prime Minister Victor Ponta.

Romanian farmers will receive other EUR 19 billion, according to Ponta, who spoke at the launch of the first three measures of the 2014-2020 National Rural Development programme.

The programmes approved by the Agriculture Ministry will help farmers face a tough competition and gain access to big retailers, the Prime Minister said.

He said that he wanted to see less bureaucracy, so that the money can be paid on time and farmers don’t have to take loans.
