Next IMF money go straight to BNR, no longer cover budget deficit
Romania has signed a two-year stand-by agreement with the IMF for EUR 12.95 billion, out of which EUR 9.2 billion were already paid out. Around EUR 2.2 billion of this amount was used to cover the budget deficit.
An IMF mission is currently in Romania to review the stand-by agreement and see whether the country has fulfilled its agreement with the fund. The evaluation report could reach IMF's council mid-June, when a the council will decide whether to give out the fifth installment of the loan.
