A new center for cardiology and radiology opened in Bucharest following a EUR 500,000 investment in the relocation, expansion and equipment purchase.

The ARES Centers of Excellence in Interventional Cardiology and Radiology recently moved into new headquarters in Bucharest, inside the Ponderas hospital.  The new location’s areas dedicated to consultations, surgery, and hospitalization cover some 600 sqm, with a total capacity of hospitalization for 65 patients per day.

“Since the Centers’ founding in 2010, we had over 3,200 patients that chose to seek treatment at the Bucharest center. Last year, we performed over 1,100 procedures at the ARES Centers in Bucharest," said Iulian Plescan, operational director ARES Centers of Excellence. The center now has two angiography rooms, which allow it to reduce the waiting time from hospitalization to procedure completion.

ARES also started performing two new procedures, namely MitraClip - interventional treatment of mitral regurgitation - that will be a first in Romania, and TAVI - percutaneous implantation of aorta - a first in the ARES Centers.
