Natural gas consumption in Romania up 4% in first 8 months of 2011

Romania’s natural gas consumption amounted to about 96 million MWh in first eight months of this year, up 4 percent compared to the same period in 2010, according to the National Authority for Energy Regulation (ANRE).

Romania's internal production of natural gas that comes into use represented 76.53 percent of all sources in August 2011. The top two producers, namely Romgaz and Petrom, covered 95.2 percent of this source, according to ANRE.

The import of natural gas covered the rest of 23.47 percent of all sources. The price of the imported gas was USD 474 per 1.000 cubic meters in August, down from the previous month's price, which was USD 480 per 1.000 cubic meters.
