Polish group pours EUR 10.5 mln in logistics spaces in northern Romania

Polish group Maspex, which produces brands like Tymbark, Bucovina, and Salatini, announced a EUR 10.5 million investment in new storage facilities in northern Romania.

"At Vatra Dornei, we have planned investments worth EUR 10.5 million to create a new storage area in the vicinity of the Bucovina mineral water factory. The project is underway and is due to be completed this spring," said Ioana Vişean, communications director at Maspex Romania, quoted by local Ziarul Financiar.

The company invested more than RON 70 million (over EUR 15 million) last year in a packaging line at the Valenii de Munte factory, where it launched a new range of products - Tymbark juice bottled in square-shaped PETs. The company also invested EUR 5.5 million at its factory in Giurgiu, in production and storage areas, an investment that supports the entry into a new market segment - La Vitta spring water.

The Maspex Group, which has 1,800 employees, also owns the Rio Bucovina company, which has in its portfolio Bucovina water brand, one of the top selling brands on the natural mineral water segment.

Ioanna Vişean says last year's financial results are not ready yet, but she stated that the company recorded "sustained growth" on all product segment in its portfolio, in the first nine months of 2018.

Maspex Romania had a turnover of RON 409 million (about EUR 90 million) and a net profit of more than 23 million lei (EUR 4.9 mln) in 2017 (latest data available), according to data from the Finance Ministry. Rio Bucovina reported a business of RON 164 million (EUR 35 million) the same year.
