A company in the wood and furniture industry could open a production plant in the Tetarom 3 industrial park in Jucu, Cluj county, said the Romanian PSD county councillor Remus Lapusan, without disclosing the name of the company.

According to sources from the economic environment in Cluj quoted by the local media, the investor might by the Swedish furniture retailer IKEA.

“We are in a quite advanced stage, and when the Tetarom 3 industrial park in Jucu will be extended by 24 hectares, there is a foreign investor to come there to invest and set up a production unit. It’s a company in the wood and furniture industry, which will create about 400 jobs,” said Lapusan, quoted by local news agency Mediafax.

The IKEA store in Romania ended the 2012-2103 fiscal year with total sales of some EUR 100 million (RON 440 million), a year-on-year increase of 10 percent.

The Swedish retailer owns and operates over 340 stores in 43 countries.
