Jail for former Romanian deputy for influence peddling, fraud & forgery

The Bucharest Court sentenced former PDL deputy Alin Trasculescu to seven years in prison, for influence peddling, embezzlement, forgery, and money laundering.

He received seven years for influence peddling, two years for incitement to forgery under private signature, five years for money laundering and five years for association to influence peddling.

The Court merged the sentences, and Alin Trasculescu will execute the heaviest penalty of seven years, reports local Agerpres. The judgment is not final.

Alin Trasculescu requested from a company EUR 50,000, which he later increased to EUR 150,000. He also asked for and received RON 1.1 million (EUR 248,000). To get the money, he made the company representatives believe that he had influence over local and national authorities.
