How much do Romanians overeat on all inclusive holidays?

23 April 2015

Romanian men eat more than women during their stay at all inclusive hotels at the Romanian seaside, but they never eat everything on their plates, according to the Mareea travel agency, which manages an all inclusive hotel in the Mamaia seaside resort.

“Usually, at all inclusive, men place an average of 2.5 food portions of food from each dish on their plates, but a big part of it remains uneaten, while women eat normal portions of food,” according to the study, cited by local Mediafax.

Moreover, 70% of Romanian women tend to eat vegetables, such as salads or soy products, to lower the impact on their figure.

In men’s case, the favorite dishes at all inclusive hotels include the popular Romanian minced meat dish called mici, smoked sausages, roast pork and beef, the spicy pan, and sheep pastrami.

In general, those who choose all inclusive services for the Romanian seaside are families aged  30 to 50, most of them with one or two children.

Last year, there were over 6,700 places in all inclusive hotels on the Romanian seaside. So far, these hotels’ capacity increased by 581 places.

Mareea, owned by Romanian Marius Usturoiu, is one of the largest travel agencies in Romania. For this year, the agency estimates that tourist traffic to the Black Sea will increase by 10%.
