The Romanian Government has decided to increase the tax contributions for small firms without any employees from 3% to 5% of their turnover, according to a draft project that the Senate approved earlier this week.

The Chamber of Deputies also needs to greenlight the bill, which would be enforced from January 1, 2016. The tax level would amount to 5% of the turnover, plus RON 1,530 every quarter, reports local Capital.ro.

Microenterprises with one employee will pay a contribution of 3% whereas those with two employees or more will pay a tax of 1%.
