Greenpeace asks declassification of agreement for new energy group in Romania

09 December 2014

Greenpeace has asked the Government to declassify the agreement to establish the company IPP (Independent Power Producer), which should implement a new energy unit at the Rovinari thermal power plant.

The agreement was signed in October between Romania and China, in the presence of Prime Minister Victor Ponta, and is being kept secret.

The Memorandum of Understanding, previously signed with the Chinese partner, includes a confidentiality clause according to which only the Chinese side can disseminate the project’s public documents.

Greenpeace sent a request to the Government to declassify the agreement and make the document public.
