GE delivers 11 gas engines for the centralized heating system in Brasov, Romania

30 March 2015

Energy equipment and services provider GE Distributed Power, part of the US group GE, has provided the energy service company Bepco 11 gas engines for the centralized heating system in Brasov, central Romania.

The investment amounts to EUR 34 million, reports local Wall-street.ro.

The 11 engines can generate 38 MW thermal and 42 MW electrical power, and have an efficiency of over 84%.

Bepco financed the investment from its funds and through a loan from Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR).

“The energy we produce reaches some 20% of consumers in Brasov, namely 12,000, so the potential is big, if you establish a strategy for reconnecting consumers. In five years we should reach 19,000 consumers,” said Simina Costan, general director with Bepco.
