Romanian energy regulation agency ANRE has decided to cut gas prices by 9% starting April 1 for consumers who are GDF Suez customers.

However, customers of another supplier, E.ON, will pay an additional 1.5% for the gas price.

The price difference is due to the change in distribution tariffs, but also to the removal of gas imports, reports local Agerpres.

The distribution tariffs of Distrigaz Sud, which belongs to the GDF Suez group, go down by 20%, whereas the E.ON distribution tariffs stay the same.

Distribution accounts for over 30% of the final gas price. Gas imports accounted for 2% of the final price.

The gas price for consumers will drop on average by 3.9% starting April 1.
