27 May 2014

Romanians ranks first among Central and Eastern Europeans who order food using the foodpanda mobile app, being followed by Slovaks, Serbians and Croats.

Up to 51 percent of the daily food orders registered by foodpanda in Romania are made via the mobile app, this being the highest rate in the region.

Slovakia comes second with 41 percent, followed by Serbia with 39 percent and Croatia - 36 percent. The ranking continues with Hungary on the fifth place, with a rate of 26 percent, followed by Bulgaria with 22 percent, Poland, and the Czech Republic, according to foodpanda, the online food delivery platform.

“Most of Romanians use the app to make orders from the office, around lunch, or from the car or other means of transport in the evening, on their way back home, which saves them some time as they avoid the classical order by phone which requires a more detailed conversation,” said Dan Macarie, Country Manager foodpanda Romania.

On a global level, Romania comes fifth among countries with the highest rates of orders made using the mobile app, being surpassed by Saudi Arabia with a rate of 72 percent, Pakistan - 67 percent, Senegal - 63 percent and Bangladesh - 60 percent.

Foodpanda currently collaborates with 200 restaurants in Bucharest, Cluj – Napoca, Timisoara and Iasi.
