Danish Eurowind plans 70MW “agrovoltaic” park in central Romania

08 June 2023

After developing three smaller-sized photovoltaic (PV) parks in Romania, Danish company Eurowind Energy says it is about to kick off works at a 70MW solar electricity production capacity near the town of Teiuș, Alba County in October.

Notably, the PV farm will be of “agrovoltaic” type – meaning that the land will still be available to farmers after the solar panels are installed. The 130 owners of the land will still be able to use the 80 hectares on which the park is built for agricultural purposes, with access for their animals to graze.

The project, expected to involve EUR 50 mln of investments, will have a capacity ten times larger than the cumulated capacity of the company’s other three solar parks in Romania. Eurowind will retain ownership of the PV park after development.

Across entire Europe, Eurowind operates 12 operational energy parks with a combined capacity of 100 MW.

Scheduled to become operational next year, the 70MW PV park in Teiuș is planned to generate just over 102 GWh per year.
