Romania’s Govt. unveils 2019-2030 energy sector strategy draft

Romania’s Energy Ministry announced on Monday, March 18, that it has launched in public debate the draft "Energy Strategy of Romania 2019-2030, with the perspective of 2050", News.ro reported.

The public's comments and suggestions can be submitted to the Energy Ministry's headquarters within 15 calendar days of the date of publication of this notice.

Romania would need total investments in the energy sector between EUR 15 and 30 billion for the period 2018-2030, with a central estimate of about EUR 20 billion, according to the strategy.

The key strategic investments are outlined in the revised document: the 3rd and 4th units at Cernavoda nuclear power plant (pictured), the reversible (pumped) hydropower plant at Tarnita Lapustesti, the 600MW coal-fired power unit at Rovinari and the hydropower plant on the Danube at Turnu Magurele-Nicopole, in partnership with Bulgaria.
