Electronic cash registers could become mandatory in Romania next year

28 July 2017

Companies operating in Romania could be obliged to use only cash registers with electronic journal from May 1, next year, according to a draft project published on the Finance Ministry’s website.

The authorities need to draft the procedure for approving the electronic journal models until the end of August this year. They also need to approve the information included in the national register for electronic cash registers until the end of August.

By the end of February next year, a committee will need to authorize the distributors of cash registers with electronic journal. Starting May 1, 2018, it will be forbidden to trade old-generation cash registers.
