Electricity consumption in Romania goes up by 3.2%

The national electricity consumption reached 38.2 TWh between January and September last year, up by 3.2% compared to the same period in 2014.

The quantity of electricity produced during this time rose by 1.8% year-on-year, to 46 TWh, according to the National Authority for Energy ANRE.

The import went up from 0.2 TWh to 2.7 TWh whereas the exports increased by 40% to 7.5 TWh.

Hidroelectrica generated the largest amount of electricity, namely 28.9% of the total energy produced between January and September 2015. Complexul Energetic Oltenia accounted for 22.9% of the energy, Nuclearelectrica produced 18.2%, and OMV Petrom generated 4.7%.
