Delphi: Authorities' support, most important factor in opening EUR 155 mln factory in Romania
“When the factory opening decision was made, we took into account several locations in Eastern Europe. Now we are convinced we took the right decision by opening in Iasi. The five main reasons are the available and trained workforce, the competitive salaries, the proximity to clients, the infrastructure and utilities, and maybe the most important, the support from authorities,” said John Fuerst, the president of Delphi Diesel Systems, who attended the factory inauguration in Romania last week-end.
Delphi will also start producing vents in its Iasi factory from November 7, according to factory director John Hutson.
Delphi already runs three factories in Romania, in the Western part of the country, which produce electric and electronic distribution systems. The company employees 12,000 Romanians in total.
