Daimler builds new factory in Poland, not Romania

05 May 2016

German car producer Daimler has chosen to build its new engine plant in Jawor, Poland, instead of the Romanian town of Sebes.

The company considered building the factory in Romania, but finally decided for Poland. The investment will amount to some EUR 500 million and will create some 1,500 jobs.

Daimler announced its decision on May 4. Jawor is located about 430 kilometers from Warsaw.

The German company owns a gearbox factory in Sebes, Romania. Dieter Zetsche, the head of Daimler, said in March that Romania could attract some new investments from the group, but it needed infrastructure and workforce.
