Colliers Romania redesigns offices to showcase prototype office for the Y generation

14 May 2013

A real estate agency in Romania has recently revamped its offices to showcase an office for the Y generation. Colliers Romania recently inaugurated its newly designed offices, which include desk sharing areas, pop-up meeting areas, a stage for presentations and entertainment, a 'fun' area, as well as soundproof areas, wireless infrastructure, knowledge center and plug-in library. A lot of Colliers' new office features couches and armchairs and looks like a lounge area.

The new design aims at catering to the needs to the younger generation of workers, now between 20 and 30, who will make the majority of the workers in 2030. The people born between 1950 and 1979 currently make up 70 percent of the workforce globally, but they will be out of the business environment in 2030.

The new work space should cater to the ambition, freedom of expression, entrepreneurial spirit, need for communication and connectivity, as well as mobility of the Y generation, according to Colliers. In its new office, over half of the desks are in the hot-desking area, where the company's sales force will work. Several green elements included in the new office will generate 20 percent lower operational costs for the space. Colliers worked with ASUS, Techo, Bene, Bittnet Systems, Saint-Gobain RIGIPS and PrographicArchitecture Studio to create what they call a 'prototype of the office from the future'.
