Chinese company China Gezhouba Group International Engineering, with activities in transport infrastructure, energy and tourism, expressed its firm intent to invest in the hydro power plant project in Romania's Tarnita city, said the company’s President, Ren Jianguo during a meeting with the Romanian Minister of Economy, Ion Ariton.

Ion Ariton has also invited the company to participate in the selection of investors to be launched soon by Hidroelectrica SA, and in other infrastructure projects in Romania.

China Gezhouba Group International Engineering (CGGC) is one of the biggest Chinese state investment companies with activities in transport infrastructure, energy and tourism. The company was the main contractor of the Three Gorges Dam project, the world's largest hydroelectric power plant. Also, the Chinese company conducted or participated in China in the construction of over 100 hydropower plants and over 300 works of infrastructure.

Deloitte's consultants have so far contacted over 100 potential investors for the construction of the hydroelectric power plant in Tarnita, a project of over EUR 1 billion. The hydroelectric plant's construction will take between five to eight years. Hidroelectrica's representatives estimate that over 4,000 jobs will be created in the two phases of the construction.
