Bribery, tax evasion charges for former Romanian Police head

Romanian prosecutors recently indicted the former head of the Fraud Investigation Service within the Ialomita County Police, Cornel Tache.

They charged him for bribery, influence peddling and complicity to tax evasion. They also asked magistrates to judge Cornel Tache under judicial control.

Prosecutors have indicted in the same file businessman Gheorghe Ungureanu and the company administered by him called Avimar Fdl, for tax evasion.

Tache allegedly received RON 32,000 (EUR 7,255) from Ungureanu between July and September 2013, according to prosecutors, to help the company administrator conduct commercial operations by violating the fiscal law. This has brought the state budget prejudices of RON 5.6 million (EUR 1.2 million).
