Company owners and shareholders will be able to withdraw dividends from companies quarterly, according to a bill approved by the Romanian Senate and sent to the Chamber of Deputies, reports local Startupcafe.ro.

This would change the current legislation, which allows shareholders to receive dividends from the companies’ profits only once a year. A group of 34 MPs proposed the change.

The Senate’s economic committee has come up with an amendment that extended the possibility to pay quarterly the full dividends made over that period. If the law passes, business owners will be able to pay themselves dividends much more often.

At present, dividends can only be distributed in the year after the profit was made and after the company submits its financial situation.
