Arrears on loans go down in Romania

The arrears on loans above EUR 4,500 went down by EUR 272 million month-on-month in December 2014. They reached EUR 7.1 billion, according to the Central Credit Register within the Romanian National Bank (BNR), reports local Capital.ro.

These arrears represented about 12% of the total loan value in December.

Over 70% of all the arrears, namely EUR 5.12 billion, are unpaid debts of over 90 days.

The individuals’ debts to banks increased in December by 2.45% over the previous month. They went up with EUR 34 million, reaching EUR 1.43 billion.

However, the individuals’ debts went down by 5.5% in 2014. They dropped from EUR 1.51 billion in January 2014 to EUR 1.43 billion in December 2014.
