Anda Ancuta Macovei, the director of the IT department within the Tax Agency (ANAF), was receiving her bribe in envelopes hidden in packages of pastry, according to the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA), reports local Hotnews.ro.

The Prahova Court issued a 30-day arrest mandate on her name on Friday, October 6.

Macovei is being prosecuted for deeds committed when she was the director of the information technology department within the National Customs Authority. In 2010, Macovei allegedly asked for 25% of the value of several IT contracts in exchange for helping two companies win public contracts with the National Customs Authority, according to the prosecutors. In total, Macovei asked for about EUR 1 million, as well as other valuable goods, for herself and another person between 2010 and 2014, the prosecutors said.

She was detained on Thursday last week.
