All eyes on Romania as 18 mln citizens expected to vote in presidential impeachment referendum
In Bucharest, almost 1.8 million citizens are awaited to say 'yes' or 'no' to impeaching the president. Over 1,200 polling stations will be available in the capital city.
The president will be impeached, if there are at least the 50 percent plus one valid votes in favor, but in order to be valid, the referendum needs to be attended by 50 percent plus one of the eligible voters.
Romanians can vote either in the towns or villages where they live, if they are there on the day, or elsewhere in the country, where they will be placed on additional election rolls. Romanians will only need their ID cards to vote, except those abroad, who can vote with their passports.
Polling stations will be open from 07:00 to 23:00 on Sunday. Over 33,000 people from the Domestic Affairs Ministry will supervise Romania's polling stations.
