A&D Pharma grows sales by 32%, pharmacy sales up while Anima clinics land more corporate clients
On the wholesale segment, represented by Mediplus, the group posted an increase of 47 percent to EUR 391.4 million in the first nine months of 2010 as compared to EUR 266.3 million for the same period in 2009.
The revenues from the marketing & sales division was EUR 28.1 million for the first nine months of 2010, down on the EUR 32.0 million in the same period last year. Following the acquisition of marketing and sales companies in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, the Group is now reporting sales from Romania and from international operations separately for the Marketing & Sales division.
In Romania, the marketing & sales division recorded unaudited revenues of EUR 11.4 million, down on EUR 32 million in the first nine month last year. “The results were down significantly period-on-period but in line with management’s expectations, mainly due to the restructuring of its supplier portfolio and partially due to a reclassification of products between the Wholesale and the Marketing & Sales divisions,” according to A&D Pharma.
On the retail side, represented by Sensiblu pharmacies, sales grew by 32 percent, to EUR 179.3 million for the first nine months of 2010 as compared to EUR 135.7 million for the same period in 2009. Sensiblu comprised 233 pharmacy outlets throughout Romania and continues to be the largest branded pharmacy chain in the country.
The group entered the private healthcare segment this year with Anima clinics, which landed corporate clients like Orange, Porsche Bank, G4S, Romtelecom and RBS. Anima has also recently secured a contract with the Health Insurance Fund of Bucharest (CASMB) for ambulatory care. Anima currently operates four clinics in Bucharest and a central medical laboratory.
A&D Pharma's shares are trading on the London Stock Exchange (symbol ADPH).
