Where do Romanians travel for their winter holidays?

Romanians’ favorite international holiday destinations for Christmas are Lapland, Vienna and Rome, well-known for their Christmas fairs and events, while the perfect New Year’s Eve destinations are Dubai and Istanbul, according to information from Romanian tourism agency Paravion.ro.

Romanian tourists allot an average budget of EUR 800 per person for holidays outside the country this Christmas, similar to the one last year.

Although it’s the most expensive destination, Finland’s Lapland is also the best-selling destination on Paravion.ro, with prices starting at EUR 1,700 for a 4-night complete package at a 4-star hotel.

A 3-night stay during Christmas time, at a 3-star hotel in Vienna, Austria, starts at EUR 210, according to Paravion.ro.

The best-selling destinations for the 2015 New Year’s Eve are Dubai and Istanbul, followed by the Golden Sands and Bansko in Bulgaria and Tusnad in Romania. The average budget a Romanian allots this year for the New Year’s Eve amounts to some EUR 600 per person, for a package that includes transport, accommodation, food and various tourist circuits.
