13 October 2014

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the latest versions of U.S. tech group Apple’s iconic smartphone, will be available in another 36 countries, including Romania, by the end of October. The official release date for Romania is October 31, the company announced on Monday, October 13.

Once they will be officially released on the Romanian market, the new iPhone models will be available through local mobile carriers such as Orange, Vodafone and Telekom Romania. This means that consumers in Romania will be able to buy these devices at less than half of their full prices, bundled with two-year mobile data and voice subscriptions.

Although it is not yet officially available in Romania, the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been selling through online retailers, such as quickmobile.ro. These retailers purchase the devices on other markets where they are available and sell them on the local market at full price.

On quickmobile.ro, prices currently range from some EUR 840 for the model with 16 GB internal memory and go up to EUR 1,250 for the iPhone 6 Plus with 128 GB memory. The retailer started preselling the gadgets in mid-September, when it was officially announced and made the first deliveries around September 19, when it was officially released in the U.S. Romania’s largest online retailer eMAG.ro also sells iPhone 6 starting at EUR 830.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were launched on September 14 and are currently available in 33 markets, including the U.S., Australia, and selected countries in Western Europe, Middle East and Asia. By the end of October, the smartphone will be available in 69 markets and by the end of the year it should be distributed officially to 115 countries, making this the fastest iPhone roll-out ever, according to Apple.
